In October 2019, we installed a set of automatic casting equipment for tidal sand for a casting enterprise in Shandong Province, China. The tidal sand mixing equipment was equipped with a horizontal parting automatic casting molding machine with a processing capacity of 20T per hour. The completed sand molds were automatically transported, transported, placed, and dropped using a rail casting line, reducing the dependence of molding workers in the casting production process; The tidal sand mixing equipment is installed in the original sand turning and molding workshop channel of the foundry, with an overall height of 11-13 meters. After the equipment is installed, the channel is capped. Due to the limited available space on the site, the old sand bin can store 40 tons of casting old sand. When the molding host is in operation, the tidal sand processing system can automatically add materials and water. The automated sand mixing provides casting sand for the back-end molding. In normal production operations, the mixed sand can be controlled by one staff member;


Sand mold casting line


The sand mold size of the horizontal parting automatic casting molding machine is 550mm X 650mm, and the sand mold height can be adjusted within the range of 400mm-600mm. In the selection of the molding machine model, the equipment with the sand mold size is customized according to the variety of castings involved by the casting enterprise; The foundry retains a portion of manual sand mold production, and only when there are a large number of casting orders that require mass production, will automated casting molding equipment be used for molding production;


According to the above figure, after the molding machine of the foundry completes the molding of the sand mold, it will be pushed onto the bottom plate trolley with rollers. The elevator will lower the trolley carrying the sand mold to the ground and level with the track. Then, the cylinder will push the sand mold trolley to the track transfer device for a second time, in order to achieve automatic transportation and placement of the sand mold in a cycle;


Sand mold automatic molding equipment

During the day, workers are responsible for shaping and placing the sand molds, replacing and automatically dropping the cooled sand molds one by one. During the night shift, pouring workers pour metal iron into the sand molds; The biggest advantage of this line is that the sand mold has sufficient cooling time after pouring, and it avoids contact between the sand mold and the ground to reduce impurities mixing into the casting sand. Therefore, to some extent, it also alleviates the problem of high sand temperature caused by the low storage capacity of the old sand bin in the automated tidal sand treatment system at the front end;
